Event Details

We welcome you to join your ACHE colleagues from the California Association of Healthcare Leaders (CAHL) at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland for networking and a stimulating panel discussion on keeping a financial edge in today's challenging environment.

Today’s healthcare executive faces many challenges. Issues such as workforce shortages, the need to update technology, making facility infrastructure improvements, as well as providing safe high-quality patient care all make financial challenges extraordinarily complex. In addition, healthcare leaders face ever-increasing regulatory demands and diminishing financial rewards.

* What organizational strategies are available to healthcare executives to affect their organization’s bottom line?

* How can leaders use meaningful metrics to examine such areas as product lines and supply chain costs and revenues?

* What are the critical links that exist between financial and nonfinancial managers (or clinical and nonclinical managers) that can impact the financial health of departments and the organization as a whole?

The evening’s discussion and question & answer session will be moderated by:

Anne Bakar, President and CEO of Telecare Corporation

The evening's panel will include:

* Walter Choto – Service Line Administrator, Good Samaritan Hospital, San Jose

* Rick Senneway – Director of Performance Improvement, Kaiser Permanente, Diablo Service Area

* Patrick Smyth – Vice-President, Kaufman Hall

Please join your fellow CAHL members and community colleagues for the evening at Samuel Merritt University's Bechtel Room, located at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center (Summit Campus) in Oakland.  Light Hors d'oeuvres will be served.  Registration and directions are available at:

This program has been developed and is presented locally by CAHL. The American College of Healthcare Executives has awarded 1.5 ACHE Face-to-Face Education Credits to this program.
