Chamber Leader Development Workshop

This workshop is intended for Board Members and Staff of Hispanic Chambers of Commerce. Participant materials prepared by subject matter experts will be made available. This workshop is part of the Certified Chamber Leader Curriculum and will count towards your certification process as a Certified Chamber Leader-Associate and Certified Chamber Leader.
- Governance for Non-Profits is ensuring that the organization complies with all applicable laws, that directors know, understand and adhere to their duties, and that staff manages the day to day operations – consistent with the mission of the organization. Melinda Guzman, Esq. (former Chair of the CAHCC) will lead this segment of the workshop. Ms. Guzman has assisted local, state and national non-profits, providing guidance and legal counsel to boards.
- Parliamentary procedure was designed to provide uniform rules of order for deliberative assemblies. It is meant to assist an assembly accomplish its work efficiently and fairly. Parliamentary procedure provides a set of standards and guidelines for making decisions and conducting business in most types of democratic meetings. Led by subject matter expert, Dennis King, this workshop segment will provide guidance on how to utilize Parliamentary Procedures for more effective decision making in the Hispanic Chamber Board environment. Mr. King presently serves as the Executive Director of the Silicon Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
