Janelle Jolley of Sidewalk Districk will be in the private beta phase of her business. This is a great opportunity to hear what is happening in real time with a launch.
Sidewalk District is a marketplace for local independent retailers giving them a "cyber sidewalk," allowing consumers the ability to peruse and shop a local store anytime, anywhere: from a phone, laptop or tablet. If you are interested in building up local economies, supporting retail stores or making an investment, we'd love to have you in the room to provide guidance to Janelle.
Please join us! The presentation starts at 6.30pm. Come early for a beverage and to meet others.
The lowdown on Burning Plan
If you haven't been to Burning Plan before, here is a little background on how it works. This is a monthly business plan review process where one entrepreneur/project/company has the floor for the evening. They will present the full plan of their business – approximately 20 minutes. At the conclusion of the presentation, they will describe for the audience what THEY DON"T KNOW about what they are doing. This is ususally a set of issues, sticking points and learning gaps. We open the floor for clarifications from the audience and then spend 1+ hours doing a workshop discussion on the questions the entrepreneur has asked of the group.
Entrepreneurs are asked to be very open about their business. This is not an investor pitch; it's a way for the entrepreneur to get feedback from a community. This is an opportunity to tap into the wisdom of the crowd. The audience is asked to bring their best thinking.
