If it's a sunday brunch filled with shenanigans your craving, join NYC's favorite wisecracking Bingo Lady Linda Simpson & the hardest working middle aged man in show business Murray Hill over Mimosas, for the exciting return of Burlesque Bingo Brunch Sunday, January 27th at The Highline Ballroom. Starring a bevvy of Burlesque beauties & YOU!
NYC nightlife legend, comedian, and renowned entertainer Murray Hill, “the hardest working middle-aged man in show business,” is a relentless retro shtick slinger, larger-than-life personality and freewheeling ad-libber. Murray’s razor sharp wit and frenetic showman antics have delighted folks worldwide for over a decade. The New York Times anointed Murray “Downtown’s New ‘It’ Boy.” He’s been included in “Best of New York” lists in the Village Voice, Time Out, Paper and New York Magazine; inducted into Paper’s Nightlife Hall of Fame; selected as OUT magazine’s Top 100 influential performers; and named one of the top 12 gender-bending performers in NYC by Time Out.
Like most drag queens Linda Simpson was born after dark, starting out at the legendary Pyramid Club, the hub of the campy East Village scene during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Since then she has worked nightlife gigs galore as a party promoter, hostess and MC. Linda’s multi-faceted career also includes publishing the underground “revolutionary gay magazine” My Comrade (founded by her alter ego Les Simpson); hosting the groundbreaking nationally broadcast cable TV show Party Talk; writing, producing and starring in four plays, all dark comedies—The Tranny Chase and The Final Episode (both at P.S. 122), The Bad Hostess (at La Mama Theatre), and The Emperor’s New Codpiece (at the Laurie Beechman Theatre on 42nd Street). As a game-show host, her wildly popular Bingos have entertained throngs of players, and she was even flown to London to show off her skills for a TV variety show.
“A worldly wit… A kind of mother superior of the New York drag scene.” — The New York Times
