What Is Game+Hack?
Game+Hack is a hackathon, an event at which computer programmers, designers and others interested in software development collaborate intensively for a day or more on a software or mobile app project. Generally, a hackathon has a specific focus, which can include the programming language used, the operating system, an application, an API, or the subject and the demographic group of the programmers.
The intended outcome of Game+Hack 2014 is the development of mobile games/apps designed to promote any of the YMCA’s focus areas:
- Youth Development
- Healthy Living
- Social Responsibility
Game+Hack is a venue for self-expression and creativity through technology, as well as a social and educational event where tools are provided to more novice enthusiasts to allow them to collaboratively conceive, create and code usable software.
What do I get and what do I need?
You bring your own laptop and your creativity.
We provide WiFi, technical mentors and food. I am a novice!
What do I need to know?
It is strongly recommended that novice participants (teachers, students) participate in one of our three training sessions before the event. We will contact registrants with details.
There will be mentors, advisers and industry professionals to help during the hackathon.
Don't be afraid, there will be help. Just experience what a hackathon is all about and create your mobile app that you always wanted to make.
