- To summarize the information presented at the 1st three workshops in regard to thinking about models of integrative care.
- To develop an understanding of the existing models of integrative primary care.
- Clinicians will begin formulating plans for development of a model of integrative care that fits their style and means of practice.
- Clinicians will increase awareness of how they can collaborate with other kinds of specialty practices to provide holistic client care.
Dr. Francis has served as the Executive Director of Cornerstone Counseling Center of Chicago for 10 years. She is a bilingual (Spanish) psychologist with over 15 years of experience working with students, families, and individual adults in a variety of settings. Her passion is creating access to quality mental health resources for people of all socio-economic, cultural, and religious backgrounds. She has been featured on Moody Radio, ABC’s Windy City Live, First Business News Network, and other media outlets to provide relevant insights for listeners/viewers on a variety of topics. She had the honor of being selected as one of CBS's "Women to Know" in January 2014.
Dr. Francis is a frequent presenter at educational, business, and religious institutions and trains over 1000 people every year on topics like workplace performance enhancement, parenting, and healthy relationships. She also serves as an executive consultant to organizations in a variety of fields.
Earned her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, where she is currently an adjunct faculty. She earned her MBA from North Park University. As Executive Director, she is overseeing the transition to DSM 5 and ICD 10 compliance for a staff of 15 therapists and is responsible for teaching DSM 5 and ICD coding to her students as an adjunct faculty.
Dr. Ponder was a collaborating investigator to the DSM 5 through her participation in DSM 5 field trials. While she has a broad range of clinical experience, she is especially interested in working with clients recovering from traumas, dealing with boundary and relationship issues, and parenting issues. She also provides marital and pre-marital therapy.
Dr. Ponder has been working with cases of trauma for over 15 years. She is trained in EMDR, an evidence based treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder that has been proven to be highly effective.
Jess is a registered Dietitian at Healthier Tomorrows is passionate about building strong relationships with her clients and providing them with the education and motivation to enhance their current health status to a healthier, more optimal state of being using food as medicine. She takes great pride in spending time with her clients, learning their story and completing the discovery process together to tailor treatment directly to the individual's needs.
Specializing in food sensitivities, digestive issues, diabetes, weight management and increasing overall health and well-being, she utilizes functional nutrition, which incorporates a food-as-medicine approach, addressing the whole person rather than isolated symptoms. She works with her clients to look at both internal and external factors affecting their health and vitality.
Jess offers one-on-one nutrition sessions, along with grocery store tours, recipe tastings, individual cooking lessons, cooking classes, and seminars and workshops. She emphasizes creativity and sustainability when working with clients to develop realistic solutions to overcome obstacles.
