Building Community-Based Coding Clubs: Become a Mentor or Organizer!
Wednesday, March 19, 2014 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM (EDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
In the wake of Code.org's "Hour of Code" and the growing popularity of coding clubs such as Coderdojo.com, this meeting will share with the community techniques and resources you can use to host your own coding club, mentor, and/or learn about resources you can share with young people who want to learn to code. It is not necessary for you to be a programmer to want to mentor/organize a club or share such resources, only someone who has a pasion to inspire young people to learn to code.
Further this meeting will serve as a way to network with others who have similar interests and want to take action to build community resources for coding in South Florida. An agenda for the meeting is forthcoming.
The meeting is organized by Steve Luis, who has developed three coding clubs in South Florida. The meeting will be hosted at FIU's School of Computing and Information Sciences.
