Celebrating the Brotha Within

The Brotha-2-Brotha Youth Summit empowers 100+ high school boys of Pan-African descent to reach their full potential by engaging them in workshops, live entertainment, and reflective activities. Utilizing a 3 step-process of self-awareness, self-appreciation, and self-actualization the workshops and activities equip participants with fundamental tools to make well-informed decisions today and in the future.

This year’s theme is Celebrating the Brotha Within.

The teens attend free. Breakfast, Lunch and light snack provided.

My Foundation: The BLUEPRINT

This workshop aims to support participants with tapping into their purpose and passion. The young men will leave clearer about their purpose and passion, they will create a purpose statement, and they will create a 10-day action plan/blueprint consistent with this purpose. In this workshop the young men will learn that their purpose and passion may shift from moment to moment, but that power comes in standing for something.

Passion to Profit

In this workshop participants are challenged to think in a way that will show them that no matter what they love to do or what their passions are, they are able to create viable, profitable and legal revenue streams from them.

Winning the Game: On and Off the Court

This panel consists of a straightforward conversation with the young men about the importance of proper nutritional intake, being still, exercising, and how each of these effect the growing diagnosis of cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, STI, and other ailments within the Pan-African community. They will have a profound understanding of how ones health can either support their dreams, or kill them off. Each of the young men will leave the workshop declaring a new commitment to their health that is consistent with their ability to fulfill on their purpose and passion.

This workshop will provide the young men with a blueprint for what to expect as they step into manhood. They will explore concepts of integrity, financial responsibility, leadership, communication, and how their choices and actions of today can and will impact their future. They will leave with a plethora of resources and avenues to support their purpose and passion.

The event will be documented via videocamera and/or photographer. By attending this event, you consent to the taking of photographs, movies or video tapes by the Gye Nyame Empowerment Project (GNEP). Founded in February 2007, the Gye Nyame (jean yuh-me) Empowerment Project is a non-profit organization that provides tools and conversations that affirm positive life outcomes for Pan-African people and their communities. We create moments that affirm people of Pan-African descent and their communities, and we disrupt disempowering trajectories of our people and our communities.

For the past 6 years, GNEP has hosted the Sista-2-Sista Youth Summit, an annual summit for high school girls.
