Brooklyn City Farms Market Bike Tour
Saturday, October 30, 2010 from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM (EDT)
Ride Your Bike, Visit City Farms Markets!
Take a lazy weekend bike ride at the peak of harvest season AND get familiar with several community-run farmers markets in central Brooklyn. Riders will help judge a pie contest, listen to live music, enjoy end-of-season festivities and taste the fruits of NYC urban agriculture. Why visit community run farmers markets? The markets are run by urban farmers who build connections with rural farmers and their community residents. Each of the markets are in neighborhoods with little access to fresh, healthy food and thus are providing a much needed source of nutrition AND community.
The tour is offered in partnership between Just Food and Transportation Alternatives. Led by Eric Thomann and Owen Taylor.
