Brightons 3rd Raspberry Pi Jam - “Py Vs Pi”
BrightonPi is back at the Build Brighton Hackspace for the 3rd Brighton Raspberry ‘Jam’. This time round we’ve teamed up with the lovely people at Brightons Python user group (@brightonPy) for a special Py vs Pi event! :) As the evening features a set of talks, there's no need to bring along, or even own, a Raspberry PI.
Introduction to Python - Jamie Matthews
Python is one of the more capable, yet simple to pick up languages pre-installed on the official Raspberry Pi disk images. In this session, Jamie from @brightonPy will take us through the fundamentals of the language, showing just why Python is becoming *the* language of choice for projects of all sizes...
Many of us (if old enough) will look back on the Acorn Archimedes with a deep fondness and respect for the revolutionary concepts it introduced. The Operating System of the machine has seen continual development over the intervening years, and now finds an official Raspberry Pi stable release. Neil Ford, will take us through the pains and pleasures of getting the system up and running. Is it a better, leaner system than linux on the Pi?
The Future Of Books
Josh Emerson and Kyle Bean have created a RPi powered laptop inside a book. As a follow up to a previous art project, Josh and Kyle have modified the book to become a fully functioning laptop. The project is a commentary on the changing ways that we source information.
Doors Open at 7pm, for a 7.30pm start!
When & Where
Unofficial Raspberry PI user group based in Brighton. Will organise local meetups to play, tinker, and talk about the Raspberry PI hardware and software.
