Event Details

The Tower Club Business Alliance is proud to present Sherri Elliot-Yeary, the Generational Guru, in "Bridging the Communication Gap Between Generations & Developing the Workforce of the Future"

For the first time in history, four distinct generations make up the workforce population: Millennials, Gen Xers, Baby Boomers, and Traditionalists. Because each generation speaks its own generational language, miscommunications, conflict, and stereotyping often occurs. Good business leaders understand how to bridge generation gaps and eliminate conflict—but great business leaders understand how to cross the bridge and leverage generational differences to give their company a competitive advantage in the marketplace. During this fun and informative presentation, we’ll pull out the generational translator and help you understand what makes each generation tick, why they choose to communicate in certain ways, and how you can make sure you’re speaking the same language as your employees and your managers.

Here are just a few of the takeaways:
  • Explanation of the four generations and what makes each unique.
  • Most common types of miscommunication between generations.
  • Practical strategies for promoting understanding between generations and eliminating conflict.
  • What is the make-up of the future workforce.
  • Understand how to attract, retain and motivate as a leader.
The details:  $10 (credit/debit at the door) includes breakfast and parking.  We meet from 7:30-9am.  This event is open to the public, so bring your colleagues, and *please* RSVP so that we have the right amount of food.

About our Speaker, Sherri Elliott-Yeary – Generational Guru

Sherri Elliott-Yeary is known as the Generational Guru because of her expertise in helping employees and employers bridge the generation gap to work more productively and achieve a competitive advantage in the marketplace. As a Senior Human Resources Professional with over fifteen years of experience, Sherri has seen her share of on the job squabbles. She’s learned from experience what works and what doesn’t in an era where four distinctly different generations must all work together and get along.

Sherri’s unique insight into generational problems in the workplace has made her a sought-after speaker and leader in the HR community. Her book, Ties to Tattoos: Turning Generational Differences into a Competitive Advantage explores the differences between all four generations and offers practical strategies and advice for bridging communication gaps, minimizing risk, and promoting harmony within the organization. It also outlines the best ways to attract, retain, and motivate the top talent from each generation. The book is available through Amazon.com in print and on Kindle.
