Brewster Open Source Launch Event at USV
Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 7:00 PM (EDT)
New York, NY
Brewster Engineering would like to invite the NYC developer community to celebrate our recent launch and discuss several open-source projects we recently released that are currently used in production.
We'll discuss these projects, our launch, and the technologies we use. Ruby, node.js, Cassandra, ElasticSearch, devops, and iOS development will be the main topics.
Obviously there will be pizza and beer as well.
The new open-source projects:
A Ruby object-document mapper and lightweight API adapter for ElasticSearch. Defines model classes that use ElasticSearch as a primary document-oriented data store, and exposes ElasticSearch's search functionality to query for those models. View on Github
A Ruby CQL query builder and object-row mapper for Cassandra. Uses chained scopes to construct CQL queries and returns results in a friendly form. Full ActiveModel integration to provide a familiar interface. View on Github
A dynamic-resizing image host built in node.js. Instead of downloading, transforming, and re-serving images, Imagine streams them back immediately following the transformation. Github link to come
Test-driven ops. A Ruby DSL for describing tests to be run against remote applications on multiple servers. Can be used as a framework for implementing automated tests. View on Github
A Ruby DSL for declaring load tests. Simulates a number of users performing a scripted set of actions, displays live metrics about response times and error rates. Makes it very simple to declare your requests and pass data between requests. View on Github
For iOS, a UIScrollView subclass providing a custom grid with lots of extra functionality around scrolling, insertions/deletions, drag & drop, pagination. Very fast and smooth. Github link to come
