A breastfeeding activity that seeks to promote the importance of providing proper support to breastfeeding mothers. This is consistent with the theme for this year’s World Breastfeeding Week 2013, “Breastfeeding Support: Close to Mothers.”
Breastfeeding is a public health issue. Breast milk is perfectly designed to meet the individual nutritional and immunological needs of infants, and the act of breastfeeding provides additional benefits to infants and their mothers. Breastfeeding is not easy. To successfully breastfeed, the mother needs a stronger, well-informed support system from the hospital, home to the workplace.
Coming together is a beginning. A large group of mothers feeding together creates an extraordinary sight. It is the most obvious way to show support to each other: sitting side by side feeding our children. This event will help mothers become confident when they breastfeed in public and hopefully will call for the public to have a more open and healthy-minded attitude to breastfeeding.
Events as such have been conducted all over the world. But this activity is a first in the Philippines. This activity will simultaneously take place in 4 key cities in the Philippines: Manila, Bacolod, Davao and Cagayan de Oro
