Two things that are near and dear to my heart: bowling and a cure for Parkinson's Disease.
I don't talk about it much, but in 2006 my mother passed away at the young age of 53 due to complications resulting from a neurodegenerative disorder called Spinocerebellar Ataxia (SCA). SCA is a hereditary disorder in the Parkinson's spectrum which has no known effective treatment or cure. While the disease itself is not directly fatal, The Center for Disease Control rated complications from Parkinson’s disease as the 14th leading cause of death in the United States. Parkinson's effects over 1,000,000 people in the United States and 10 million people worldwide.
Please join me on Saturday, August 3rd to raise money for The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease through an aggressively funded research agenda and to ensure the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. I chose this charity because they are a BBB accredited charity and unlike many other charities, most of their money (88 cents of every dollar) goes directly towards research.
Bowling Against Parkinson's Disease

All proceeds/donations will be donated to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research!
When & Where
Play Recess (formerly Sunday Recess) is a co-ed multi-sport adult recreational league based in San Francisco, CA. Each week, teams gather on the field to face off in no-holds-barred events such as kickball, dodgeball, flag football, ultimate frisbee, & soccer. But the games don’t stop when the last whistle blows! After dueling it out on the field, the league heads down to our sponsored bar for cheap pitchers and intense flip cup action. Though recess starts in the afternoon, it’s been known to last well into the night. Sign up today at www.playrecess.com!
