Botanical Tour of Oakwood Beach
Date & Time: Saturday, August 20, 10 – 11:30 am
Location: Meet at the end of Kissam Avenue. Parking is limited. More parking available along Old Mill Road and Guyon Avenue (just before turning onto Kissam Avenue - about 1/4 mile to meeting spot).

Description: Come see interesting, remnant maritime plant communities
in NYC. We will see dune grasses, asters, goldenrods and Eastern prickly pear, the only cactus native to the eastern U.S. and a NYC rarity.
Directions by car: Take Staten Island Expressway (I-278) to Hylan Blvd. Take Hylan Blvd south to Guyon Avenue. Take Guyon Avenue east to Kissam Avenue. Follow Kissam Ave to the end.
Please Note: We recommend being properly outfitted - long pants, long sleeve shirt, and wide brimmed hat. Definitely bring water. You may also like to have sunscreen, camera, bug spray, wildflower guidebooks, hand lens or magnifying glass. You may also want to bring lunch. If inclement weather, contact us here via eventbrite.
