What better way to celebrate Literacy Month and Oktoberfest than to combine them into ‘Booktoberfest’! Join the local DFW chapter of Room to Read and Lakewood Brewing Co. for this charitable event on Thursday, September 26th from 6:30 – 9:30pm at the Lakewood Brewing Co. facility. There will be special brews available for tasting, a tour of the brewery, German-inspired food, silent auction and raffle, and live music provided by Four Left Turns (www.reverbnation.com/thefourleftturns).
Proceeds from the event will help promote literacy with local children through Read-a-thon school programs in Dallas-Ft. Worth, as well as provide much needed books for children in Asia and Africa. Tickets are $25 if purchased in advance or $32 at the door. Service fees applicable. Both beer and food are included in the ticket price. For more information, go to www.roomtoread.org/dallas or www.lakewoodbrewing.com/events.

Room to Read seeks to transform the lives of millions of children in the developing world by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. Working in collaboration with local communities, partner organizations and governments, we develop literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children and ensure girls have the skills and support needed to complete their secondary education. roomtoread.org
