Event Details

Booked: Cleveland's arts and culture reading exchange is a new idea from CPAC to get arts and culture professionals together and talking. Every other month, CPAC is hosting this discussion group focused on works of nonfiction by thought leaders within, and outside of, the arts and culture field. One month it might focus on innovation, another month it might focus on advocacy or marketing.

This month we are focusing on Soul of a Citizen: Living with Conviction in Challenging Times; Second Edition, Revised and Updated by Paul Rogat Loeb. Soul of a Citizen has become the handbook for budding social activists, veteran organizers, and anybody who wants to make a change—big or small—in the world around them. At this critical historical time, this new edition—and Paul Loeb's inspiring message—are more urgently important than ever. Completely revised with new profiles, updated political discussion, and exploration of emerging social technologies, Soul of a Citizen is an inspiring new edition for a new world. Soul of a Citizen is available for purchase online and in print.  View availability

Please read the book along with us, and come prepared to share your thoughts and impressions. This session will be moderated by Megan Van Voorhis, and the discussion will be shaped by those in the room.  We are happy to partner with Ohio City Writers for the June 20 Booked event from noon - 1:30 p.m. Please bring a brown bag lunch to the event if you like. Ohio City Writers is a non-profit creative writing center located at 3208 Lorain Avenue in Cleveland. OCW organizes programs and volunteers to help youth, in grades one through 12, hone their skills with the written word, which in turn will bolster their imaginations, critical-thinking abilities and self-confidence.Seating is limited, so please register if you are certain you can attend. If you are unable to make it, let us know if you are reading the book so we can share the online discussion with you.
