You are invited to celebrate the arrival of the greatly anticipated book:

LEGACIES: A GUIDE FOR YOUNG BLACK WOMEN IN PLANNING THEIR FUTURE.

This is a free event for our friends and guests who would like to meet and greet many of the contemporary women, artist and poets featured in Legacies. The event will be held at the Michael Rosenfeld Fine Art Gallery in New York (Chelsea).  This will be a private event and our guest will enjoy full access to the gallery and artwork.  Spirits and hors d'oeuvres will be served.

Register both you and your guest above and be sure to print and present your paper ticket at the door.  Copies of Legacies will be available for purchase and authographs.

Feel free to share this invitation with your friends, family and colleagues, via Facebook, email & Twitter.

~ Constance Gipson & Dr. Hazel Mahone, Authors

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING ABOUT LEGACIES...

The artwork and the poetry add another dimension to the book.  The artwork brings a wonderful visual component that reflects the text.  The classic poems of Mari Evans, “I am a Black Woman;” Carolyn Rodgers, “How I Got Ovah,” and Nikki Giovanni’s, “Ego Tripping,” among many others, will speak to the hearts and souls of many readers.

There is a lot here to encourage young black women to grasp their future with both hands and soar above the adversities that life can bring.

—Joyce Hansen, author, African Princess: The Amazing Lives of

Africa's Royal Women and Home is with Our Family

Legacies should be required reading in every middle and high school in the United States not only for the incredible history lessons contained within its pages but also for the contemporary stories where girls can see role models.

—Patricia E. Canterbury, author, Every Thursday

To my young Black Sisters: Read this book and be inspired with the Black Women who have blazed trails for all of us in familiar and unfamiliar territories. Use their experiences and this book to plan your life’s journey and make it a great journey. I extend my heartfelt appreciation and congratulations to the authors, Connie Gipson and Dr. Hazel Mahone, for researching and writing this invaluable book for young Black Women and other young women who read and use it in planning their future.

—Mona Humphries Bailey, Past National President.

What a motivational, educational and inspirational work!  Legacies is a great resource to learn about our ancestry and about some of our amazing African American women and their accomplishments today.  After reading this work, young women will be inspired to dream big—because anything really is possible!
