The Port of Los Angeles is the largest port in North America. 40% of US consumer good pass through San Pedro Bay (LA & LB Combined). The Port has a substantial economic impact. It generates 3.3 million related jobs & over $21 billion in tax revenues nationally. With a total operating revenue of over $400 million annually, the Port invests considerable sums toward infrastructure development and environmental mitigation -- but that's not all.
Join the tour to get an inside look at how the Port works. For instance, it is a 'landlord port' that is not tax-payer supported, though it is constrained by the same procedures as other city departments. The tour will cover topics which will range from trade and the maritime industry, the Port's Clean Truck Program (an international model), a nationally recognized ground-breaking export promotions program and clean-tech innovations fueled by Port investments. If time and interest allow, there is a possibility of a ride-along van tour following the boat tour!
