Sir Ken Robinson

Robinson's 2006 TED talk on how schools kill creativity is the most watched in the organization's history, with more than 20 million views online. In his newest book, Finding Your Element: How to Discover Your Talents and Passions and Transform Your Life, Robinson explores the ways that children fail to develop their full talents and potentials at school. He looks at the need for every person to find their true talents, as well as the urgency for schools and organizations to cultivate these capacities -- for personal, economic and cultural reasons.

Blue School

Blue School is an NYC independent school with a public purpose, designed to reimagine education. 218 children age 2 through 5th grade are enrolled for 2013-14. Blue School’s inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning builds on the great progressive educators and thinkers of the past such as Montessori, Vgotsky and Dewey. It is also inspired by co-constructivist theory, the Reggio Emilia approach, and current research from the fields of human development, neuroscience, and the study of creativity and innovation. Blue School is a lab school where faculty, students, families, and other partners work together to develop educational practices that give children the tools they need to build a more harmonious and sustainable world.

The three original members of Blue Man Group, Matt Goldman, Chris Wink, and Phil Stanton founded Blue School in 2006 with Renee Rolleri, Jen Wink, and Jennifer Stanton. In September 2011, Blue School moved to its permanent home at 241 Water Street in Lower Manhattan. Allison Gaines Pell, Head of School, leads a team of 40 full-time faculty members and 15 administrators. Leaders from the fields of education, psychology, design, and neuroscience such as Sam Chaltain, Larry Cohen, John Maeda, Sir Ken Robinson, David Rockwell, and Dr. Dan Siegel serve on Blue School’s Advisory Board and partner with the school to turn its vision into reality.
