This is an intensive, week long workshop that allows you to work directly with our instructors in a small personal group, while in the beautiful setting of the Pacific coast of Mexico. With just twelve students and two dedicated instructors we'll cover everything you'll need to take your blog to the next level, whether that's jumping in and demonstrating how to use photo editing software, to writing and blog critiques, to customized photography sessions ("how do I set get my camera to do that?") we'll take you from concept to real world application -- tailored specifically to your blog, your goals, your strengths and your unique voice.
BlogBrilliantly.com was born out of a desire to talk to creative people about how to blog in the best way possible - with a focus on creating great content rather than spending time chasing tweets and influence. We recognize that blogging can be an isolating, lonely pursuit, one where getting meaningful feedback from multiple sources is crucial to fostering real growth. Since beginning Blog Brilliantly, we have prided ourselves on creating a safe space for our community where we challenge each other to go further.
While we love our online course and interactions in the community, a lot of people have asked us over the years about one-on-one mentorship. In fact, we've found meeting other bloggers, especially in small groups, to be really energizing and quick way to learn. While we have written dozens of articles on how to approach different aspects of blogging, there is really nothing like having knowledgable people right there, sitting next to you at your laptop, showing you how to install some widget, or talking about strategy. Sometimes there's just nothing better than having someone say, "Oh sure, let me show you..." when you ask about a certain photography editing tool. We're bloggers, we love the web, but meeting in real life is amazingly efficient way to take your blog to the next level.
To that end, we're offering very small (12 students only) workshops through out the year. They'll be hosted in our home in Bucerias, Mexico, where we'll be working together in our conference room, with a large screen for demonstrations, and plenty of wifi and coffee.
Who is it for?
The short answer: Creative people who want to get focused and create an organized, smart plan for growth, or people who want to create content at a higher quality level. We take new bloggers, but we ask that you have your blog live and setup before you come.
Our expertise is in story driven narratives: using writing, photography and video to share your work, the story of you, with the world. Our approach isn't dependant on pure talent; we set goals, looking realistically on where we want to be in one year, two years, then make a plan of what steps are needed to reach those goals. We're smart about business but focused on the creative. We use social media, but we don't let it run our lives. We network, we monetize, we use internet marketing techniques, but only to support our core mission.
What do you get?
Five full days of intensive hands-on workshop time.
Sessions will run 8 hours per day, from 9AM to 5PM, with a light breakfast and full lunch provided. In addition to reviews and discussion from Christine, the group will workshop their ideas and materials together. By workshopping as a group, we hope to help you to think more critically about your approach, and hopefully learn some things you might not have thought of if you were on your own.
Your enrollment also comes with a one-year membership to the Blog Brilliantly website, which is now nearly 100,000 words of guidance that will continue to help your growth once the workshop is over.
What will the workshop cover?
We recognize that a blog can be very different things depending on the person and their goals, so our approach is extremely fluid. We don't believe there is a cookie cutter one-size-fits-all approach to meeting your goals, so we take the time to tailor our approach to meet your individual needs.
When you enroll, you will be sent a questionnaire that will prep you for what you will need to bring with you to the course, and let us know where you currently are in your blogging career and where you would like go in the future. Setting goals is vital to your growth - without them, you won't know if you are headed in the right direction! Everyone will have an one-on-one meeting with Christine to discuss their goals and areas they'd like to improve. During the week we'll be covering content tailored to the group for the following subjects:
Day 1: Overview & Goal Setting
Day 2: Writing!
Day 3: Photography!
Day 4: Money & Balance
Day 5: Group Crits
We'll also be offering on-site support for basic design and Wordpress questions, Lightroom and Photoshop tutorials, Google Analytics metrics, and more.

A small, sleepy town about 45 minutes drive from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Bucerias shares the same bay as Puerto Vallarta without the same crush of tourism that makes up so much of PV. The neighborhood where the workshop is being held is on a dusty dirt road in an area that feels much more like authentic Mexico. There is a vibrant art scene in this town which gracefully blends locals with hundred of expats from up north.
