Blink - MFA Thesis - Daniel Charon
Saturday, March 2, 2013 from 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM (PST)
Blink is an MFA 2 Dance Thesis concert by choreographer, Daniel Charon. It is a multi-media dance theater piece set in a world where time fractures, folds and unfolds for seven people navigating a warped and variable reality created by their discreet and interconnected stories. The disjointed moments of their lives, distorted in scale, hold the characters apart, bind them together, or confine them in their own minds. Weaving together images from dreams and memories, Blink uses live video projections, multi-source sound design and off-center, highly charged dancing to present a world where nonsense makes perfect sense, and time is a relentless driving force. Created in collaboration with Jeff Aaron Bryant (MFA 3 music technology), Christopher Heilman (MFA 2 scenic design), David Moyer (MFA 2 costume design), Daniel Jackson (MFA 1 Video for Performance) and Daniel Norman (BFA 2 lighting design). Performances will be held in the Sharon Disney Lund Dance Theater at CalArts on Friday, March 1st at 8:00 pm and Saturday, March 2nd at 7:00 pm & 9:00 pm.
