I'm almost certain that if Shakespeare were alive today he would be a big fan of modern stand-up comedy. That speculation aside, on May 22 at the Davis Sq. Theater we will be staging a show that combines Shakespeare monologues and stand-up comedy.
John Paul Rivera
Adam Ribaudo (sound)
The Shakespeare passages (2-5 minutes each), from Richard III, Julius Caesar, Henry V, and others, will be done according to the text and, for the most part, not for comedic effect. Jiayong Li, Lillian DeVane, Marc Basch, Guitler Raphael, Nick Ortolani, and John Paul Rivera will perform the "monologues" in addition to 5-7 minute stand-up sets. Andrew Mayer will do a longer set (10-12 minutes) and Myq Kaplan will end the show with 30+ minutes of comedy. Also, Adam Ribaudo has created a soundtrack and will be live scoring all of the Shakespeare.
$15. Doors open at 7:30. Beer and wine available.
