CELEBRATES WITH RUACH DANCE MINISTRIES FOR ITS 2014 BLACK HISTORY MONTH:
“FREEDOM’S FAITH STEP: NO MORE AUCTION BLOCK”
Washington, DC- At a time that aims to promote to, while engaging, the American consciousness about contributions made by African Americans over centuries of United States history; Gamma Chapter of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Incorporated will celebrate its 2014 Black History Month programming with a joint produced play called Freedom’s Faith Step: No More Auction Block. It is a dramatic presentation of history from slavery to the present. It aims to highlight the past while moving forward through song and dance. This event is co-produced with RUACH Worshipping Arts Ministry and directed by Pastor Faye Ritchie Chandler - Playwright and Director.
The play will talk about various pinnacle moments of African American history such as:
- Harriet Tubman's freedom journey
- Civil Right Freedom March; and portions of MLK and Obama's speeches interpreted
- Monologues on businesswomen and activists such as: Mary McCloud Bethune, Ida B. Wells, Maggie L. Walker, and Amy Jacques Garvey
Gamma chapter of Washington, DC is the third chapter of the national organization Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., boasting 83 years of service by business and professional women to its local DC Metropolitan community.
As part of its national agenda, Gamma chapter welcomes all to attend this open and free event on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Civic Center, Spring Room, 1 Veterans Plaza, Silver Spring, Maryland.
