Event Details

Join Sisters Working it Out for its Black and Pink Gala!! Hosted by Angela Martin of Inspiration 1390 radio, join us for a night to remember! There will be a live band, a jazz soloist, a comedy show, poet performance, and silent auction.  The Keynote speaker for the evening is Mrs. Donna Thompson, the CEO of ACCESS Community Health Network.

We will also be recognizing Barbara Bates, Tatisa S Joiner, Dr. Monica Peek, and Praise Dancers for their community service.

All tickets include open bar and plated dinner.

Sisters Working It Out (SWIO)

Founded by Monica Peek, MD, MPH, Sisters Working It Out (SWIO) empowers women to become community health educators and advocates for health policy change. SWIO focuses on promoting breast health and breast cancer awareness with the ultimate objective of reducing breast cancer disparities among women of the African diaspora.

Through direct outreach, patient education and navigation programs, SWIO serves an important role in driving early breast cancer screening and detection in medically underserved communities within the Chicagoland area.

SWIO Health Educators are trained to provide education on breast cancer screening, treatment, and survivorship, and other women’s health issues, including HIV prevention, reproductive health, osteoporosis, and heart disease.

SWIO has collaborated with the Chicago Black Women’s Health Project, Sister’s Network, Y-Me Chicagoland, University of Chicago, John Stroger Hospital, Metropolitan Chicago Breast Cancer Task Force, Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern Memorial Hospital Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and many other organizations.
