"(CRITICS' PICK!) Delightfully nasty! At once a sly parody of the celebrity-chef culture... and a creepy chamber-piece."
- Mark Olsen, LA WEEKLY
*NYC Theatrical Premiere, One Week Only!*
Joe Maggio's BITTER FEAST is a delicious new thriller served up with wicked wit and culinary flair. The L.A. Film Festival favorite makes its NYC premiere with a week-long engagement, October 15 - 21.
After a particularly nasty review, overly zealous TV chef Peter Grey (James Le Gros) kidnaps J.T. Franks (Joshua Leonard), the influential and notoriously snarky food blogger who dealt the final blow to his already plummeting career. Sequestered deep in the woods of the Hudson Valley, Grey keeps Franks chained up in a basement, presenting him with a series of deceptively simple food challenges, punishing him sadistically for anything less than total perfection.
Featuring supporting roles from renowned chef Mario Batali and cult filmmaker/producer Larry Fessenden (THE LAST WINTER), BITTER FEAST explores modern media criticism as the creative impulse is seen going ferociously awry.
95 minutes. In English. Presented in Blu-ray. Unrated.
*** COME EARLY FOR LIQUOR & SNACKS! Last call 5 minutes before showtime
*** EXCLUSIVE FEAST: Rabbit Blackberry Saddle Bag ($4), Wild Boar Meatball Sub ($5), "Bitter" Popcorn with Olive Oil and Fresh Herbs ($3).
"Gore for the gourmet! Maggio reveals a fluency in the horror-genre vocabulary while also translating it to his own twisted ends. It's also funny."
- John Anderson, VARIETY
