Event Details

A walking tour that goes beyond Philadelphia’s revolutionary beginnings.  Starting at City Hall, a building destined to be the world’s tallest, this tour leads through the bustle of Reading Terminal Market and the luxury of Rittenhouse Square, and looks out toward the steps of the Museum of Art. Along the way you’ll encounter cross-dressing Irishmen and a certain Italian boxer, look into Philly’s famed sports “curse”, and learn the sordid history of the Reading Railroad, more than just spot on the Monopoly board.

Free and Friendly Tours

Free and Friendly Tours is a Philly company run by people who love to travel and who know how valuable it is to meet friendly, knowledgeable locals when visiting a new place.  On these free, tip-based tours of Philadelphia, guides tell the stories, historical and contemporary, that make their hometown stand out, and they will direct visitors to their favorite places off the tour where visitors can continue to get to know this great city.  Tourism is a massive market, and it can be difficult to sort out what is worth seeing, but Free and Friendly tours adheres to a simple policy: “If we like something, we recommend it.”
