On April 1st, former Lake Shore Central Science teacher, Bill Sheehan, was involved in a minor fender-bender on Route 5 in Hamburg. After the police had secured the area, Bill returned to his car to retrieve some personal belongings. At that point, a man drove through the scene, hitting Bill’s car which in turn struck Bill, throwing him across the pavement. He was transported to ECMC, where he began treatment for a traumatic brain injury. There he was roused from a coma and began rehabilitative therapy.
On June 4th, Bill was flown by air ambulance to Craig Hospital in Denver, Colorado, one of the top ten traumatic brain injury rehabilitation facilities in the country.
The future is uncertain but, hopefully, with continued therapy, he will regain much of what he has lost. However, the expenses involved in this treatment are extensive and unfortunately, much of it is not covered by insurance.
Bill is a thirty year resident of the Town of Hamburg and spent his entire teaching career at Lake Shore Central Senior High in Angola. He enjoys skiing, rock climbing, and music festivals. In his honor and for the benefit of his ongoing medical treatment and family expenses, we are hosting a music festival/fundraiser titled; Billapalooza – The Sheehan Sunshine Music Festival. It will be held on Sunday, August 4th at the Wings Meeting Place and Pavilion, 3964 California Road, from 2 PM to 8 PM. All proceeds from this benefit with go towards his medical treatment and expenses.
