Our guest speaker for September's monthly meeting is Regina Nunes, Managing Director and Office Head of Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services in Brazil and in Argentina, being also responsible for the company’s operations in Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Uruguay, and Paraguay.
Regina started her career at Standard & Poor’s in 1998 as Marketing Director of the São Paulo Office in Brazil. ln January 2000, Regina was promoted to Office Head of Standard & Poor’s Brazil.
Regina has accumulated 28 years of experience in the Brazilian financial and capital markets. Before joining Standard & Poor’s, Regina worked at major financial institutions, such as Citibank and Chase Manhattan, in the areas of credit and risk analysis. At Chase Manhattan, Regina was trained in New York and later occupied a temporary position in Puerto Rico. Regina worked for two years in New York at Commercial Bank of New York, leading the Trade Finance and Risk areas, focusing on Latin America. In addition, for three years, Regina was an independent consultant in Brazil, working on privatization programs, investments for international funds in the Brazilian market, mergers and acquisitions and financial engineering projects.
In 2003, Regina received the “Prêmio: Destaque do Ano” Award (Most Distinguished Executive of the Year) from IBEF – Instituto Brasileiro de Executivos de Finanças de São Paulo (The Brazilian Financial Executives Institute). In 2007, was nominated “Mulher do Ano” (The Woman of the Year) in the Executives category by ANEFAC (National Financial, Business Administration and Accounting Executives Association). On December 2010, Regina was chosen one of the “14 Best Women Executives in Brazil”, an award granted by international consulting firm Egon Zehnder and the Valor Econômico newspaper. And finally, on December 2011, Regina was once again chosen one of the “15 Best Women Executives in Brazil”, an award granted by the Valor Econômico newspaper.
