Event Details


Join Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas for its Annual Fall Festival on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Hemisfair Park from 11:00am to 2:00pm.

The event promises adults and children alike an afternoon of food, fun, games, prizes with San Antonio's historic Hemisfair Park providing a beautiful backdrop.

Activities include:

  • Bike Rides through Hemisfair Park - B-Cylce bikes and children's bikes will be available for use on a ride through Hemisfair Park or to participate in our Instagram bicycle scavenger hunt. Courtesy of B-Cycle and Bike World.
  • Games for Adults and Children - We have interactive games scheduled for the whole family. Enjoy a race in the Human Hamster Ball, or try not to get "hit" in Booger Dodgeball. Lifesize Jenga and additional games will be provided by Games2U.
  • Meet and Great with Willy Wonka - Meet this famous literary character from the famed book "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". Willy Wonka runs Oct 11-Nov 9 at the Magik Theater. 
  • Literacy Caravan - Promoting literacy to children throughout San Antonio, the Literacy Caravan will be on hand to provide each child that visits the caravan a FREE book. Courtesy of the San Antonio Public Library Foundation and the Texas Book Festival. 
  • Food Trucks - Cheesey Jane's and The Grilled Cheese Truck will be on hand to provide the first 400 individuals that register with a complimentary burger or grilled cheese combo. Stay tuned for more information.

Free parking is available in the lots adjacent to Hemisfair Park and the Federal Courthouse on Ceasar Chavez Blvd. (Durango lots). Paid parking is located in and around La Villita.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas

Founded in 1904, Big Brothers Big Sisters is the oldest, largest and most effective youth mentoring organization in the United States. Research has found that the organization effectively helps children make the positive choices needed in order for them to stay in school, stay out of prison and to graduate from high school or earn their GED.

Headquartered in San Antonio, Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas ranks as one of the 10 largest agencies of the national organization. In 2008, Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas supported 3,082 children in one to one mentoring relationships.
