Baltimore Bicycle Friendly University Workshop -
Thursday, March 21st, 2013, 9:30am - 12:30pm
With funds provided by Performance Bicycle, a Bicycle Friendly University (BFU) Workshop will be held on Thursday, March 21st from 9:30am to 12:30pm on the campus of Johns Hopkins University. This is a free event and open to students, faculty, and staff interested in helping make their campus a more bicycle friendly place to ride for transportation and recreation.
Each year the League of American Bicyclists awards colleges and universities across the country that have made significant strides in becoming a more bicycle friendly place to live and learn. In the fall of 2012 the University of Maryland at College Park earned a sliver level BFU award, leading the way for other colleges and universities in Maryland to become more bicycle friendly. The BFU Workshop is intended to encourage and support other colleges and universities in the Baltimore area and throughout Maryland to protect and enrich the lives of their students while at the same time improving campus sustainability by becoming more bicycle friendly.
The workshop will include an informational session from the League of American Bicyclists covering the BFU program and the Five E's (Engineering, Encouragement, Education, Enforcement, and Evaluation/Planning) as well as a presentation from University of Maryland's Assistant Director of Communications , Beverly Malone. Speakers will be followed by a brainstorming session, allowing attendees to identify issues, set priorities, and organize an action plan for making their campus more bicycle friendly.
A more detailed workshop agenda will soon be posted at bikemd.org. Please direct any questions to Bike Maryland's Bicycle Friendly Maryland Program Coordinator, Anna Kelso (email@example.com). Hope to see you there!
