Event Details

The MMSDC has streamlined the MBE Quarterly and the Corporate Quarterly meetings into one event, now called the GM Leadership Development Series. These meetings will be held bi-annually rather than quarterly, out of respect for the time constraints of our members. These events will host both MBEs and Corporate members for an afternoon of training, courtesy of our sponsor, General Motors Company.

12:30 p.m. – Registration
1:00 p.m. – MBE & Corporate Joint Opening Session
2:00 p.m. – MBE and Corporate - GM Leadership Development Series
4:00 p.m. – Networking Reception

MBE Sessions:

“How to Work On Your Business Not Just In Your Business”

ron-williamsRonald A. Williams
President & CEO
Brand Enhancing Strategy Team (BEST)

This workshop is designed to help MBE’s take their business to the next level of success.  Too often business owners are so busy “doing” they don’t invest the necessary time, effort, and energy in “building” the business.  The workshop will assist in helping you identify and analyze different paths for growth, and the differing strategies each requires.

Corporate Sessions:

“Global Supplier Diversity”

al-louisAlbert BW Louis
Global Director of Supplier Diversity and Business Development
Johnson Controls, Inc.

The Global Supplier Diversity Strategist must understand the domestic as well as international markets for historically under-utilized groups. Also, the subject matter expert must also be aware of the domestic and international emerging and mature market segments as well as clusters that exist globally. The SME should appreciate these markets so he or she can bring in solutions that will best benefit the industries that are they represent.

They will come away with an ideal as how to create an international supplier diversity strategy. [/one_third]

“How to Reduce Risk and Increase Sustainability in Your Supply Base”

erica-whiteErica White

This presentation will focus on how asking the ‘right’ pre-qualifying questions upfront, can help you reduce risk, and increase sustainability in your supplier base. Sustainability in the supply chain is essential to delivering long-term profitability. The first step in creating ‘sustainable’ supply chain, is pre-qualifying potential suppliers effectively.

“Strategic Sourcing & Supply Chain Management”

dion-farrellDion Ferrell
Director of Supply Management
Herman Miller, Inc.

The presentation will cover tools for the business to analyze key categories of spend by cost and associated risk. Review the relationship from the buyers and suppliers point of view and how we can use the tool to fully map the relationship and understand the associated risks. [/one_third_last]
