How do you set the direction of your organization?
Tactics, no matter how well executed, are wasted if they don't contribute to the direction of the organization. If they aren't created in the context of the future direction of the company, they could add up to something and somewhere you don't want to go.
BHAGS (Big Hairy Audacious Goals) and Brand Promises are how the greatest organizations set direction.

When you don't have direction, you risk having teammates motivated about something other than what you want to achieve.
