Using Active Reading Strategies to Deepen Understanding and Increase Comprehension

How can we help early learners become engaged in their reading, access meaning, and strengthen comprehension?
Through modeling, questioning, and gradual release of responsibility, teachers can create an active environment in which even the youngest students are agents of their own learning.
Participants in this workshop will:
- Explore ways teachers can intentionally structure an active reading classroom to strengthen comprehension
- Learn how to help foster confidence and a love of reading
- Deepen self awareness and understanding of the active reading process
