This training is intended for teachers of young children and professionals of early care and education programs. It is designed to provide an understanding of typical child development as a basis for observing atypical development, and methods of implementing developmental play strategies. All participants will learn the importance of structuring the play environment for age-appropriate milestones and understanding the meaning of children’s play products. Emphasis will be placed on applying theories and research to the play of young children.
Beyond Cribs & Rattles is an academic, play-based curriculum model that emphasizes the following:
Scaffolding of the infant toddler environment
Pre-Scaffolding of the play experience
Scaffolding the development of the individual child through an understanding of the stages of sensory motor, construction and dramatic play seen in the play of infants and toddlers
