Cooking With Glass... Lens Selection Workshop
Instructor: Tim Neumann
Intermediate skill levels and above can attend this class, students should have previous photographic experience.
It’s a common scenario… You see a photograph, understand the exposure, the composition, and the lighting. But, you still scratch your head and wonder, “How did they get that image?” More than likely, the elusive quality comes from characteristics of the lens that was used, and you begin to see patterns in lens selection as you explore further.
Yes, lens selection really matters! I know what you’re thinking, “That was an obvious statement!” But, maybe it’s not that obvious, after all. The most common attributes of lenses are can be readily understood, but there is more to choosing the right lens than meets the eye.
Lens selection, from purchase to application in the field, is often an overlooked and rushed event. In this class we are going to perform an in-depth survey of DSLR lenses, of every variety, and review lens qualities that are critical to taking your images to the next level, and often overlooked.
This class will have live demonstrations and will give students a chance to see all that is possible with the correct lens for your given style. Our review will begin with what are commonly referred to as ultra or super wide angle lenses (UWA / SWA), and will continue through prime lenses and through to today’s super zooms.
