This day-long, interactive workshop is open to current hospital employees who may be involved in organ donation. This includes staff in the following areas: ICU, ER, OR, Respiratory Therapy, Education, Pastoral Care, Social Work, Quality, and Administration.

WORKSHOP LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Discuss the critical shortage of organs available for transplant and the overview of the referral process.
Discuss regulations and standards related to organ and tissue donation and discuss the potential for organ & tissue donation.
Discuss commonly believed myths regarding donation and identify evidence to debunk these myths.
Discuss cultural and religious considerations of families, patients and organ donation.
Establish an understanding of brain death physiology.
Recognize the family grieving process and review the donation discussion.
Describe the challenges of donor management and the organ recovery process.
Describe the transplantation process and benefits of life after transplant
