Best in Class Case Management Contining Education (CE) seminar is an authoritative learning experience that explores the scope of and opportunities for case management. It will energize your career, harness your intuitive vision, and reclaim your energy and passion, while offering you a career of uncompromising integrity.

This continuing education workshop, held in McLean, VA, will highlight the history of case management, divulge how to apply case management processes to actual cases, and name public and private health care systems with needs for case management. Participants in this continuing education class will also be able to identify several outcomes for case management intervention and future opportunities available for case managers.

All participants will receive a copy of The Case Manager'sHandbook, 4th edition (a $99.95 value), as well as instructional materials and a continental breakfast.

Course Completion Requirements and Awarding Certificate
This is a Gannett Education CE event. Participants who attend this two-day seminar in its entirety and complete the evaluation survey will earn:

* Registered Nurses: 14.0 contact hours
* Social Workers: 14.0 CE clock hours
* Case Managers: 14.0 CCM clock hours (CCM hours by Commission on Case Manager Certification will be available from Mullahy & Associates, LLC).

Social Work Practice Levels: Entry, Intermediate or Advanced

Purpose: Explore the basic responsibilities of the case manager and current case management opportunities.

Summary of Objectives:

1. Identify three current trends in healthcare and case management.

2. Discuss the role and function of the case manager.

3. Identify the eight essential activities and six core components of case management.

4. Apply the case management process to actual cases.

5. Explain the role of communication and barriers of effective communication.

6. Name public and private health care systems and identify five insurance products.

7. Identify three legal issues for the case manager to be aware of.

8. Define ethics and recognize five ethical issues in case management.

9. Define cultural issues and identify cultural competency resources.

10. Identify three behavioral/psychosocial issues and one implementation strategy with primary care.

11. Identify three outcomes for case management intervention.

12. Identify two issues leading to polypharmacy.
13. Describe the implementation strategy when adding case management to an existing medical team.

Route 66 from Washington D.C.:
Take Route 66 West.Follow signs to Route 267, Dulles Toll Road.Exit at Route 123 South, Chain Bridge Road. After passing under I-495, stay in the far right lane. Exit right onto Tysons Boulevard. Turn right onto Galleria Drive that becomes Westpark Drive. At the first traffic light turn right onto Jones Branch Drive. 7950 Jones Branch Drive will be approximately ½ mile on the right.

From the Capital Beltway (I-495):
Take exit 46A (Tysons Corner/Route 123/Chain Bridge Road South). Stay in the right lane and take the first right exit onto Tysons Boulevard.Turn right onto Galleria Drive that becomes Westpark Drive.Turn right at the first traffic light onto Jones Branch Drive. 7950 Jones Branch Drive will be approximately ½ mile on the right.

George Washington Parkway North from Washington D.C.:
Take the Virginia exit from the George Washington Parkway onto I-495 South (the Capital Beltway). Continue on I-495 South for about 2 miles. Take Exit 46A (Tysons Corner/Route 123/Chain Bridge Road South exit). Stay in the far right lanes. Exit at first right onto Tysons Boulevard. Turn right onto Galleria Drive that becomes Westpark Drive. Turn right at the first traffic light onto Jones Branch Drive. 7950 will be about ½ mile on the right.

Dulles (Limited ) Access Road:
Exit onto the right ramp Route 7, Leesburg Pike/Tysons Corner. Immediately get in the far left lane. Turn left onto Spring Hill Road, then right onto Jones Branch Drive. 7950 Jones Branch Drive will be about ½ mile on left.

Route 267, The
Dulles Toll Road:
Exit Route 267, the Dulles Toll Road, from the far right lane onto Spring Hill Road. Toll will be $.25. When leaving Toll Booth get into left lane at the traffic light. Exit onto one of the two left lanes of Spring Hill Road and turn left at the first traffic light onto Jones Branch Drive. 7950 will be approximately ½ mile on the left.
There are three entrances to the Gannett Building from Jones Branch Drive: The Guard House, South Employee Entrance, and Service/Employee Entrance. Guests should enter through the Service/Employee Entrance.



Coming east on Jones Branch Drive, the parking entrance is the third on the right, once you see the Gannett Building.Coming west on Jones Branch Drive, the parking entrance is the first on the left. Signs are posted for all events indicating Event/Visitor Parking.

Once you arrive at the garage, indicate that you are with Gannett Healthcare Group’s seminar titled Best in Class Case Management and the Security Guard on duty will direct you to parking locations.

You’ll be instructed to park on Level P2.This is the top of the Garage and is not connected to the building, but it is a quick walk from this level of the garage to the building.Once you enter the building, a set of stairs takes you down to the Lobby.

The Security Desk is located on the right across from our Convenience Store, The Daily Item.You MUST check in with Security, show ID and you will receive a name badge. Security of Signage will direct you to the seminar.

Seminar sites are handicapped accessible and barrier-free.

Seminar room temperatures are difficult to control. For your comfort, please plan accordingly.

ALL programs must be attended in their entirety in order to receive a certificate of completion.

Cancellation and Refund Policy for Seminars:

Phone cancellations must be confirmed in writing. Cancellations received four weeks prior to the seminar receive a full refund of the registration fee. Cancellations received after four weeks and up to seven days prior to the seminar are assessed a $50 processing fee. Cancellations received seven days prior to the seminar or “no shows” are nonrefundable. Registration fees are transferable to an upcoming seminar within the same calendar year (expires December 31 each year) or to another participant. In the event that a seminar is cancelled, a full refund will be issued.
