For several years now, both federal and state agencies have been increasing their auditing prowess. Previously targeted areas of ERISA reporting and disclosure requirements and proper classification of employees now include HIPAA and COBRA compliance.
Join us for an overview of the various audits being performed by the federal agencies on th eprowl. Information required to be provided to plan participants, key issues of an independent contractor versus employee, and some tips on how to proceed if receiving an audit letter.

Frances received her Juris Doctor from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA and also has a B.S. in HR Management. Her career expands over 26 years of HR Generalist and Employee Benefits experience. She concentrates in the areas of ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, Health Care Reform, Cafeteria Plans, and other areas of the IRC and employment law that affect employee benefit plans. She has authored client Alerts and other publications used as employer resources.
Frances has been a speaker at numerous client presentations for her former employer as well as a guest speaker for many local and state SHRM branches, Compensation and Benefit Associations, and Accountant Associations. She is also a certified Professional in Human Resources and has previously served as a mediator.
