Due to a number of circumstances, we are unable to hold the event on January 4th as planned.  If you would like to support Imua Family Services and the therapeutic services we offer to children with disabilities and special needs, please consider making a donation to us via Aloha for Hawaii Charities.  A portion of your donation will be matched (up to $10,000) until January 12, 2014.  Imua was selected to participate in this holiday giving program which will provide us with 100% of your donation plus a match from a $100,000 pool provided by the Sony Open.  Donations can be made here:


BeneFIT Imua brings together Maui’s most renowned and energetic fitness gurus to bring you six (6) straight hours of rockin' dance fitness workouts – all to benefit children living with disabilities, special needs, and developmental delays right here on the Valley Isle!  If you’re looking to fulfill a fitness-related resolution for the New Year, trying to shed those extra holiday pounds, or just want to try some new exercise routines while having a blast at the same time, BeneFIT Imua is where you need to be! Start off the New Year right with the inaugural installation of BeneFIT Imua on the first Saturday of 2014!

All registered participants will receive sponsorship pledge forms to ask friends, families, neighbors, etc... to join them in the cause.  Whether it's an extra $5.00 or $50, every donation helps! Fabulous prizes await our top pledge earners, including a one-night Maui Staycation at the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel - Saturday night room accommodations with brunch for two at their renowned Sunday Champaign Brunch!

8:00AM - 8:50AM (Bollywood)

Michele Austin - Bollywood Instructor 


Michele has been dancing for as long as she can remember.  She has experience in multiple styles of dance including African, Afro-Brazilian, Hip Hop, Bhangra, and Latin. Michele, a Speech Language Pathologist for Imua Family Services is a licensed Zumba instructor and also enjoys teaching Bollywood/ Bhangra dance.  She grew up watching Bollywood, and traditional Hindi movies and has always loved honoring and spreading the culture through dance.  Come and work your arms, and shoulders while getting a fun filled cardio workout to traditional and modern Punjabi, Hindi and other Indian influenced music.

 Kelley McCarthy Cerny - Fitness Instructor

Kelley is known as the portable dance party!  Students and clients adore her endless energy.  Her compassion encourages everyBODY to shake and shimmy.  She fills her classes with surprises to make you smile.  She's been a dancer and athlete all her life, with over 20 years of experience teaching dance and 15 years in the fitness industry. Kelley is one of the nation's most multi-talented instructors, having won several prestigious awards and taught master classes and workshops around the world.  She teaches Zumba, Pilates, Yoga, Spinning, Turbo Kickboxing, and numerous other fun fitness formats.  She is launching Zumba's caregiver and child program Zumbini in 2014. She is also a personal trainer and private pilates/yoga instructor.  You can find out more about Kelley at

 David Ward - Fitness Instructor

David has been Director of Dance at Seabury Hall, a private college-preparatory school in Makawao, Maui, since 1988.  He is one of Hawaii’s most prolific and celebrated modern dance choreographers, a six-time Choreographic Award recipient from the Hawaii State Dance Council. In 1999, Governor Ben Cayetano awarded him the prestigious SFCA Individual Fellowship for his outstanding contribution to the state of Hawaii in modern dance choreography.  Besides four highly successful DanceQuake festivals, other David Ward productions include:  Maui Choreographers Forum (1992-1995), Common Ground Dance Tours (1995-1996), The Graceful Edge concerts (2000), and The New Dance Project (2001).

Haley's passion for fitness and nutrition began years ago when she went through her own personal transformation.  She became Turbo Kick certified in 2009 and got her Personal Trainer certification in early 2012.  Known for her attention to form and technique, Haley's classes are beneficial for all levels of fitness.  What is Turbo Kick? Turbo Kick is a full body workout with dance moves choreographed to the hottest music mixes.  It's high intensity and fast-paced easy-to-follow combinations will get your heart pumping to maximize weight loss!

Keoni Manuel - Zumba & Hot Hula Instructor

Keoni is from the island of Maui Hawaii. He is a certified instructor for Hot Hula Fitness as well as Zumba Fitness.  His life keeps him busy with his own business which is a entertainment company that does cultural dances of Polynesia. He just recently openned his Hot Lava DanceFit Studio in the heart of Wailuku at 380 Ho'okahi Street.  He will guarantee that you will have fun in his high intensity and energetic class and that you will see results!  One of his favorite sayings is, "Sweat makes you feel good!" His class is a Zumba program dance fitness party that blends latin and international rhythms along with body energizing moves into an exhilarating and effective fitness program that has revolutionized the way millions of people feel about their workout and their lives. Imua Family Services

Imua Family Services is a Maui and Lana‘i based non-profit organization created in 1947 whose mission it is to provide comprehensive early childhood development services to children and their families with the support and resources needed to achieve their full potential in life.

Our programs include therapeutic services for children with special needs, disabilities, and developmental delays (birth through five), our Newborn Hearing Screening which tests every infant born on Maui for hearing impairment, and Camp Imua - a week-long, overnight recreational camp for 50 school age children with special needs supported by an individualized trained care team.
