Event Details

Belts Breaking Bondage (BBB) is the entrepreneurial arm of The Salvation Army’s Anti Human Trafficking Leadership Institute. BBB’s role in the eradication of sex trafficking is to collaborate with volunteers and employ survivors to develop handmade fabric fashion products to be sold with the purpose of raising awareness about modern day slavery and funds to further the rescue and restoration of trafficking survivors

Mission Statement: Belts Breaking Bondage is the entrepreneurial arm of The Salvation Army’s Anti Human Trafficking Leadership Institute. BBB’s role in the eradication of sex trafficking is to collaborate with volunteers and employ survivors to develop handmade fabric fashion products to be sold with the purpose of raising awareness about the consumption of women through the sex industry, as well as financial support to further the rescue and restoration of trafficking survivors through The Salvation Army’s Anti Human Trafficking Program.

We gather as volunteers to help make the fashion products (Waist Belts & Necklaces)! The process is simple and fun. Knowing how to sew is not a requirement as tasks include measuring, cutting, organizing, designing, and labeling products.

Operations Outline: BBB creates and sells handmade waist belts and necklaces. Belts range in price from $8.00 - $10.00 and Necklaces are $10.00. Fabric along with other sewing materials are donated as well as purchased to be used for the construction of the products by trafficking survivors and volunteers. Survivors are given a weekly stipend for their attendance at Salvation Army Leadership Institute Programs that include life skill building, therapy, and of course product production. Volunteers assist with creating and selling products who donate their time. Eighty five % of all BBB product sales and donations go directly to employing survivors to make/sell products and to fund the efforts of The Salvation Army’s Anti Human Trafficking Program. The remaining fifteen % is used for operation costs that sustain and develop the initiative.

BBB employees, founders, volunteers, and supporters believe that we can end the consumption of women through the sex industry by creating an avenue where activism generates awareness about human trafficking and opportunities for survivors to be empowered

We also welcome donations of various materials including: fabric (at least 46 inches in length and 6 in width), craft rings (any material –wood, metal, plastic; 2-4 inch diameter), scissors, and thread.
