Event Details

Conducted by the NYC Office of Emergency Management, this workshop on logistics of disaster preparedness provides New Yorkers unique insight into the workings of resource flow in the city before, during, and after a disaster.  Presented by Jonathan Jenkins, OEM Director of Logistics, and Daniel Casey, OEM Logistics Coordinator, event goers will have an exclusive look at how the OEM handled resource management, movement control of resources, deployment of the City Emergency Supply Stockpile, and countless other tasks and situations that arose during Super Storm Sandy.

Furthermore, event goers will be presented with an opportunity to sign up for a new volunteer opportunity:

During emergencies that disrupt the public's access to food and water, the NYC Office of Emergency Management (OEM) will coordinate the distribution of life-sustaining commodities across impacted communities. As seen with Super Storm Sandy, it is imperative to have a group of trained volunteers to deploy in times of need. Volunteers would hold important positions throughout the Commodity Distribution Point (CDP) network supporting the distribution of essential items to the public. OEM is excited to work with interested organizations and agencies to build groups of trained volunteers to staff CDPs in times of emergencies.
