Beginning Robotics Camp

The New Mexico Engineering Resource Network, New Mexico State University College of Engineering, will host beginning robotics camps throughout the southwest this summer.

Camps will be 3 days:
Days 1 and 2 will be from 10 am-5 pm
Day 3 will be from 9 am-1 pm

This three-day camp is an introduction to robotics using radio controlled components and other supplies that you might find in your own garage. Campers will utilize the engineering design process as they build a robot with teammates. The robot will be used in a competition at the end of camp. The camp is a great way to prepare for the BEST (Boosting Engineering Science and Technology) robotics competition sponsored by New Mexico State University College of Engineering. In addition to building a robot for competition, students will work in teams, write an engineering manual, learn basic tool skills and be exposed to a variety of engineering technologies.

The camp is coordinated by Dr. Shelly Gruenig, coach of the award-winning Rio Rancho Robo Runners.

This camp is designed for students 10 and older and is staffed by experienced students with the supervision of Coach Gruenig. It is a great opportunity for students to learn to work together with others, communicate ideas and develop leadership skills. It is a beginning camp designed to build on campers' current level of knowledge.

Once registered, campers will receive information regarding the robot challenge, including game rules and general information and videos designed to encourage them to prepare and begin brainstorming.
