Beginning MIG Welding w/ Gaylen
Sunday, December 16, 2012 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM (EST)
MIG welding is the handy hot glue do-all kind of welding. It's the newest, easiest and most common form of welding, and the class that made us famous. All sorts of people have come through Madagascar Institute knowing nothing about a shop and have become capable metal workers; get your start here. This 3-hour introductory welding class, Gaylen--one of our most universally beloved welding teachers--will teach you the very basics of MIG welding and familiarize you with the tools you’ll need to finish a project. This class focuses on the hands-on experience of welding. You will learn a little of the theory and tech behind it, but mostly you will get a feel for the manual skill of welding.
Please dress for the weather. If it's cold outside, it's cold inside, and the gowanus mosquitos have no seasonal boundaries, so consider yourself warned! And remember this is a filthy, working shop. You will get dirty. Wear long pants, long sleeves amnd closed toed shoes. We have welding gloves you can borrow but it's nice to have your own shop gloves.
The class is $50 with a $10 materials fee.
