Beginners Urban Livestock- Online & Donation Based

In this online workshop led by farmer Meg Paska, participants will explore the benefits and spatial /maintenance requirements of chickens, rabbits, bees, and other types of small livestock that can be stewarded in backyards and on rooftops. Issues including manure management, neighborly relations and tapping into the waste stream to minimize the costs associated with raising backyard livestock will be discussed, with suggestions made on how to accomplish each.

Former Brooklyn urban farmer Meg Paska has taken what she learned about intensive urban growing and applied it to small acreage in Monmouth County, NJ. Working alongside Seven Arrows East, a year-round yoga retreat, The Homestead functions as a small, diversified CSA farm and learning place. Farming workshops also take place year-round.
