Event Details

Which tells the story of our town's history better: A pair of glasses or a license plate? A projector or a bottle of beer? Visit a place where remembering is a communal act, and everyone's opinion is heard and counted: Beertown. Part-civic ceremony, part-theatrical pageant, dog & pony dc’s Beertown actively explores the dynamic and tenuous relationship between individuals and their community.

Beertownis “so gently satiric and utterly involving that you’ll find yourself voting for and against issues before you even realize you’ve raised your hand.” –Washington Post

Every performance begins with a dessert potluck; please bring a dessert to share.

dog & pony dc

Who is dog & pony dc? We’re a DC- based devised theatre ensemble focused on providing audiences new ways to experience theatre. The company collectively creates new work that playfully explore the elastic relationship between artist and audience. Whether it’s an ultra-violent live-action version of the Punch and Judy puppet show, or an imagined civic ceremony that ignites debate about a time capsule’s contents, We like to think that going to our shows is like going to a concert...a rock concert. Everyone’s energized and engaged in the moment, and sometimes the audience ends up on stage. We’re big fans of moustaches and props.
