Presenter Bios


Rebecca Mieliwocki is the 2012 California and National Teacher of the Year. She was chosen from a group of 54 state teachers of the year to represent America’s 3.2 million public school teachers in a year of travel, speaking, & advocacy that took her to 30 U.S. states and 8 nations. Mrs. Mieliwocki is a dynamic, enthusiastic, proud member of the education community who set out to restore admiration to the profession of teaching and to remind Americans of just how much is going right in classrooms across the country.

Dr. Deanna Glenn has been the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services in the Buena Park School District for the past 5 years. Prior to that, she was the Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services in the Buena Park School District for 2 years. Deanna was an elementary school principal for 9 years and a vice principal for 2 years. As a teacher she taught grades K, 3, 4, 5, 8, RSP, and was a reading specialist. Deanna started her career in education as a school counselor and has provided counseling for grades K-12. For the past 7 years she has also worked as a professor for Concordia University working in the Masters of Educational Leadership and Masters of Curriculum & Instruction programs.

Dr. Carolee Ogata is currently the Assistant Superintendent, Human Resources for Huntington Beach Union High School District.  She has a distinguished career in Orange County, including the past distinction as the Ocean View School District Teacher of the Year.  Prior to working with Huntington Beach Union High School District she served as the Director of Certificated Personnel in the Garden Grove Unified School District for seven years.  Dr. Ogata also held posts as the Director of Instruction, principal, assistant principal, District Title IV Coordinator, and classroom teacher. 

 

Dr. Ogata earned her doctoral degree at the University of Southern California and completed her under-graduate degree at California State University, Long Beach.  Dr. Ogata loves to spend time with her family and travel the world.  She maintains an active life including gourmet cooking, working out, and sailing.
