Become a 21st Century Teacher: Video and the Flipped Classroom

Video is an increasingly important communication, information and cultural tool. Recently this has been embraced by education as the "flipped classroom" and the changing role of the teacher. Every teacher should understand the power and impact video has and how to find or create video for the classroom. This workshop will focus on both.

Presenter: Samantha Morra is an experienced K-12 NJ educator, technology coordinator and school administrator. She is also a Google Certified Teacher and has presented at the state and national levels for organizations such as the International Society for Technology in Education’s (ISTE), EduCon, and Tech Forum NY and Boston. She currently serves as an advisor for the New Jersey Educational Computing Cooperative (NJECC) and has written articles for ISTE’s Learning & Leading with Technology publication and has contributed to Web 2.0 How-To for Educators by Gwen Solomon and Lynne Schrum.  Samantha’s views on 21st century learning and teaching have been quoted in the New York Times and Star Ledger and selected projects/initiatives were featured on NJN’s Classroom Close Up and on the ABC Network special issues on  education. She is passionate about technology and its potential to continue to transform education and support teacher and student learning.

Samantha’s workshops will be held from 8:30-2:00 in Kean Hall Room 225 at the Kean University, Union Campus. A continental breakfast will be served and participants may bring a brown bag lunch.

We strongly encourage registrants to “bring your own device” (BYOD), but some computers are available, if needed. Note that workshop sessions are limited to 20-25 registrants to allow for ongoing interactive hands-on experiences.
