Bearing F.R.U.I.T.: Fatherhood Practitioners Forum
Wednesday, June 19, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM (EDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
On June 19th Fathers Incorporated and Phi Beta Sigma (Beta Psi Sigma Chapter) will be hosting a Practitioners Fatherhood Forum entitled, “Bearing FRUIT: Fatherhood Resources United to Ignite Transformation.” The event will take place at the New York Botanical Garden; 2900 Southern Boulevard, Bronx (9-3:30pm).
Each year around Father’s Day we have the opportunity to highlight, encourage and celebrate fathers. In additional to that we seek to offer an occasion to engage in a vital discussion on service delivery models and network collaborations. We are proud to have as a Keynote Speaker Joyce Thomas; Regional Administrator for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service’s Administration for Children and Families, Region II, New York, NY. The Region comprises New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. In this capacity, Ms. Thomas partners with state, local, community based organizations, and tribes within the Region to promote economic independence and healthy development of children and families.
Fathers Incorporated is also excited to partner with the Beta Psi Sigma graduate chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., in bringing increased awareness to the detrimental effects of fatherlessness in ethnic communities and identifying the public/private resources to combat these issues. Together on a local and national scale we’ll work to change public perception, influence national legislation, change public policy and encourage early intervention for younger fathers 25 and under.
We are hopeful that you will be able to join us in this long overdue and necessary engagement and collaboration of the Responsible Fatherhood network. Throughout the day there will be remarks, discussions and two workshops entitled “Stories of Fatherhood From the Field” and “Strategies for Providing Responsible Fatherhood Services to Low-Income Fathers.” It is our belief that your wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of responsible fatherhood will assist greatly in our desire to deepen and broaden the support and resources available for fathers.
I can be reached by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at (518) 227-6161. We encourage you to invite your partner agencies; friends and networks in your community.

When & Where
Fathers Incorporated, a not-for-profit organization, serves as a leader in the promotion of Responsible Fatherhood and Mentoring. This national focus will raise the awareness about, and combat the impact of father absence. We will do this through the use of innovative social marketing and multi-media platforms, traditional communications, and product development. We seek to expand the range of work in the fields of comprehensive and non-traditional family service models.
