Bring your sense of adventure and eye for detail!
Draw inspiration from the work of artists-naturalists such as John James Audubon and Maria Sibylla Merian before taking to the sands to sketch the natural wonders of Santa Monica State Beach. Binoculars, drawing boards and newsprint will be provided or bring your own easy to carry sketching tools. Comfortable clothing and sun protection are recommended. Free, reservations required.
Parking is available for $3/hour, $6/two hours or $8/day. Park and pay at machine when you arrive.
When & Where
Annenberg Community Beach House
The Annenberg Community Beach House is open to all - no membership required. Operated by the City of Santa Monica, many of the site's amenities are free and open to the public year-round, including beach volleyball courts and soccer fields, courtyard and view deck with umbrellas for shade, WiFi, splash pad, playground, and beach access. And Back on the Beach Café is right next door!
Free year-round cultural offerings include a gallery, Beach=Culture readings, lectures, and concerts, as well as tours of the Marion Davies Guest House - the original guest house of the Marion Davies Estate. The historic pool is available for public swimming daily during summer (mid June through Labor Day). Admission fees for the pool are $10/adult, $4/youth (1-17) or $5/senior (60+).
The Beach House is also available to rent for private events and as a location for filming.
